The government has announced that from August 2014, any learner starting on an Apprenticeship programme will be required to progress towards Level 2 Functional Skills qualifications in maths and English.
We warmly welcome this commitment to addressing the skills crisis in the UK, but we recognise that delivering Level 2 Functional Skills will be a significant challenge for many traditional providers. There is huge gap between Level 1 (the level to which most current Apprentices are working) and Level 2 which is the equivalent of GCSE Grade A-C.
Level 2 Functional Skills will need the support of highly experienced and well qualified practitioners and as such we believe will best be delivered by a specialist organisation like ourselves rather than a provider whose main focus is on Assessment of existing skill levels within the Apprenticeship framework.
It is vital that any organisation who currently run Apprenticeship programmes are “Level 2 Ready” well before August 2014 rather than leaving it to the last minute to try and find an experienced provider.
Creative Learning Partners already has extensive experience in the delivery of successful Level 2 Functional Skills programmes and we would welcome the opportunity to discuss how we can help you meet your requirements in this area. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for further information
